Appleby Edibles have been working on this site since 2013, developing it into a thriving community growing space with about 18 members from a range of backgrounds, ages, and mental and physical health challenges, we are also Dementia friendly. The AE site at AHC gives residents of Appleby an opportunity to develop skills and share expertise, in an informal and relaxed environment, on ‘allotment space’ lacking elsewhere in the local community and also more formal accreditation in outdoor education such as an Introduction to Permaculture and basic Horticulture.
Based on ecological and sustainable principles, connecting people & place through practical gardening sessions. Workshops in kitchen gardening and practical supported sessions in aesthetic design and design for sustainability, waste management, growing for food, for wildlife biodiversity and wellbeing, transferable for any small domestic spaces and larger public or private projects.
Raising awareness of all aspects of sustainable growing and the use of plants; Seeds, food, drinks, medicine, dyes, fibres, cosmetics, household use, textiles, decoration and structures. Encouraging wellbeing & healthy lifestyles,
