Climate Hive, Manchester Community Resilience.

Last Updated: 443 days ago

A not for profit Climate Emergency centre . Looking to spread ideas , initiatives and models of behaviour that will enable communities/people to navigate , build resilience to and  adapt successfully  through the challenges of the climate emergency .

We aim to locate the centre in the middle of Manchester city centre enabling us to spread the ideas outside of the usual environmental echo chamber, and out into the wider GM region.  In the centre we hope to have a Library of Things, Repair Cafe, Time banking Hub, Clothes and book swaps,   a Vegan Cafe , a community food store using a subscription model to allow low income families to access local organic veg and ready meals cooked using food surplus thus helping address food poverty whilst retaining users dignity and addressing food waste .

The centre will be a  place to share information and training around Food growing projects such as Urban and Vertical Farming, Community Energy Schemes, Retrofitting homes etc. We hope to have a space big enough to offer film screening, events and  free meeting space to other like minded community groups so they an share ideas and updates with the wider community.

The size of the space we are able to acquire will shape the projects ambition to an extent .
