Cuckmere Valley

Last Updated: 176 days ago

Our initiative started in Alfriston in the beautiful Cuckmere valley in October 2008 with a talk from Adrienne Campbell from Lewes.

Our natural catchment area has around 1,500 people, including Litlington, West Dean,Wilmington and Berwick. We are now attracting interest from Seaford, Polegate and Eastbourne. Lewes and Forest Row are our Transition neighbours with whom we are in close contact.

We have a strong core group of around 10 people. Among us, we are lucky to have an expert in wind and wave technology and a teacher of Permaculture and solar energy installer. All of us are commited to the ethos of Transition and some of us are in the process of retro-fitting our houses in order to lessen or carbon footprint. This Core group meets once a month.

We  hold various “awareness raising” activities, including relevant films followed by open space meetings and discussions.

We have a library of useful Transition books, available to all.
