Forres
Transition Town Forres is a volunteer-led group working towards a sustainable low-carbon lifestyle, based in and around Forres in the north east of Scotland.
We are one of well over one thousand Transition groups that have formed worldwide over the past few years in response to the global challenges of climate change, peak oil and financial instability.
Transition Town Forres was founded in 2008 and is part of the Transition Towns Movement.
We initiate our own projects and we work with other community groups and Social Enterprises, including Moray Waste Busters, Forres Community Woodland Trust, Forres Area Forum, Forres in Bloom, Forres Group Action, Forres Community Council and LETS, among others. We also actively engage with regional partners such as Transition Black Isle, Moray Allotments Association, REAP, Community Food Moray, Moray Food Network and others.
Transition Town Forres is a Company Limited by Guarantee (company number SC346142) and a registered charity (charity number SC040314). Our constitution is here Memorandum and Articles of Association of Transition Town Forres Ltd . Our initial funding was through the Climate Challenge Fund with a remit to lower the carbon emissions in Forres and increase resilience.
