We started in April 2010 with a brilliant presentation about peak oil and climate change by our local expert (Jérôme Delage).

Since then, we met about once a month (news, ideas, projects… with some sweets & drinks) and attracted new members. We started partnerships with local organizations, for instance we advised festival organizers about local meals.

On Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, we installed a very nice wood-and-canvas stall on the main marketplace (downtown). We compared the impact of two meals : one with food from the marketplace (≤ 40 km), the other one from the supermarket. A cook showed vegetable-sculpting. We also showed small metal items that are recycled by a partner group of craftsmen – artists – gardeners (les Agités du Bocage) but not yet by the waste services. A lot of people showed a real interest and spent time speaking with us about transition.

he local newspapers published large articles about “Mayenne en transition” (soon on our blog) just before that event and the town government kindly let us the space and announced our participation in the “Sustainable Development Week”.

On June, 21st, the film “Gasland” was showed featuring our first partnership with the local cinema. Pair exchanges followed as well as a debate about what we citizens can do.

We are designing actions and planning workshops about eco-mobility;  gardening, land-share & fruit picking; food; saving money, energy and time and home; etc. And of course, willing to create our vision of Mayenne and surroundings in 2030.
