The Fondation Braillard Architectes launches the Transition Workshop 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland, the world’s leading hub for climate change policy makers and home to major international organizations.

The Braillard Architects Foundation (BFA) and its partners launch, under the overarching cultural Programme The Eco-Century Project ®, the first international workshop to address the professional interactions, scales and methods of the urgent ecological transition in the future urban realms.

We invite you to:

  • Study the ecological transition through innovative action-research.
  • Design with experts and stakeholders for sustainable communities.
  • Join our global collaborative platform to boost your local initiatives.
  • Be an agent of change for a bio-diverse and healthy planet.

The FBA thus contributes towards achieving the Sustainable Development goals set by the United Nations.


During the workshop, will be invited:

  • Stefano Boeri, architect, urban planner, writer, professor (Polytechnic University of Milan)
  • Dominique Bourg, philosopher, politician, honorary professor (University of Lausanne) 
  • Peter Droege, planner, urban sustainability expert, general chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE)
  • Werner Sobek, engineer, architectco-founder of the German Sustainable Building Council, professor (University of Stuttgart)
  • Paola Viganò, architect, planner, director of the Habitat Research Center (EPFL)

For students and professionals in continuing education, participation in the Workshop will be qualified with 4 (four) ECTS.

The Braillard Architectural Foundation is a Swiss institution recognized of public utility and established in Geneva since 1987. Beyond our primary mission of protecting and promoting the Braillard archives, we focus our broader activities on the quality of the built environment.

Under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)The Eco-Century Project ® of our Foundation actively promotes the understanding of the tense relation between the urban realm and the biosphere. We strive for well designed, managed and lived cities as key parameters of the sustainable development. We ultimately invite architects, planners, decision-makers and the academia to actively engage in the ecological transition.
